The Stephen Crane poem I used for the next issue of Refilstigr is powerfully symbolic, with strong metaphors and imagery. The reader and the poem will spend just a short time together, so rather than attempt an accurate depiction of what I think is going on — instead of stumbling clumsily and noisily into the elegant tableau — I thought it best to illustrate with an abstract, decorative print: hopefully I could create an aesthetically pleasing framework, without distracting the reader’s attention away from the poem.
