I lifted that quote above there from a 1961 comedy album I listen to now and then when I drive around and I need to feel better, it’s called How to Speak Hip by Del Close and John Brent. Because some people might wonder, if they see me standing around shaking a plant with flowers on it while I try to capture an effect with my digital photo camera, and I’m taking my time because I want to get it just right … they might judgmentally raise an eyebrow and wonder “why are you doing that?”

They might not say it out loud, but I still hear them.

And maybe I don’t have a good answer. Why am I doing anything, really? Sometimes … perhaps I should even say often … my best explanation is just that “dealing with a thing can be a very beautiful experience.”
