Inspired by a title my daughter gave to one of her own artworks — Midnight at noon — I created a series of ink and watercolor paintings for the next issue of Refilstigr.

T.S. Eliot said that “immature poets imitate, mature poets steal.” I don’t know where this leaves me — whether my use of my daughter’s title is imitation or theft — but one way or the other, the paintings are a homage to her raw poetic creativity.

I may also be as bold as to describe them as an exercise in contemplation — maybe even spiritual interpretations — of weather patterns and moods, in grays and blacks.
