For the next issue of Refilstigr I printed a cyanotype of a medium format photography I shot on the Rolleiflex, toned it in coffee and tannic acid, and wrote an accompanying text with fountain pen.

Check out the ink in the picture below: You see how it’s thicker in some places than in others, thus creating a variation in saturation? This is a quality in fountain pen inks — more prominent in some than others — called “shading.” It’s a thing of great beauty, and the people who don’t know about it are missing out on life.
